Iraqi Government Plans to Set Up 2,100 Megawatt Power Plant in Baiji

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, revealed exciting news on Sunday about the government’s plans to establish a 2,100 megawatt power plant in Baiji, located in the northern governorate of Salah Al-Din.

The Ministry of Electricity in Iraq reported that Minister Fadel met with officials from Qatar’s UrbaCon, a renowned international construction service company, to discuss the final details of the upcoming project. The new power plant is expected to significantly boost the country’s electricity production capabilities.

During the meeting, Minister Fadel expressed the ministry’s willingness to collaborate with Arab companies interested in investing in Iraq and seizing the countless opportunities offered by the government for development and growth in the country.

The innovative power plant will consist of six production units, each capable of generating 350 megawatts of power. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to replace an older power plant that was tragically destroyed during the conflict with ISIS.

What sets this new power plant apart is its strategic location near an oil refinery, facilitating easy access to the fuel required for its operation. Minister Fadel emphasized the importance of sustainable energy generation to meet the increasing power demands of the nation.
