The Progress of Humanitarian Demining Operations in Azerbaijan
It’s been another productive week for the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) as they continue their efforts in clearing territories liberated from Armenian occupation. The latest report published by ANAMA highlights the significant progress made in humanitarian demining operations.
Between April 29 and May 5, 2024, a total of 53 anti-tank mines, 26 anti-personnel mines, and 378 unexploded ordnance were discovered and neutralized in the recently liberated territories. Additionally, an impressive 2,046.3 hectares of land have been successfully cleared of mines, ensuring the safety and security of the local population.
This vital work has been carried out by a collaborative effort involving ANAMA, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the State Border Service of Azerbaijan. Together, these organizations are dedicated to the safe and efficient demining of the affected areas.
