‘Foreign Policy Down the List’: Ex-Pentagon Adviser on What Really Worries Americans

Retired US Army Colonel and former Department of Defense adviser, Douglas Macgregor, argues that ordinary Americans do not prioritize their country’s foreign policy, but rather emphasize issues related to immigration.

Macgregor highlights the concerns over the breakdown of the rule of law and the significant flow of illegal immigrants as factors that are eroding US influence.

He emphasized that the focus has shifted from fundamental values that the country was built on and pointed out that the US needs to address these internal challenges first.

A recent survey by the US polling company, Rasmussen Reports, revealed that a majority of Americans perceive the situation at the US-Mexico border as an “invasion” by illegal migrants.

Despite these concerns, US lawmakers recently approved a $95 billion foreign assistance package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, sparking debate among Americans about the government’s spending priorities.
